Benefits
Interoperability
Enabling the seamless flow of information
David Miliband MP
Minister for the Cabinet Office
The e-Government interoperability framework (e-GIF) was first published in 2001, and in the words of the Minister for the Cabinet Office, David Miliband, "It has gone from strength to strength, with the benefits of a standards based approach becoming widely recognised by the private sector as well".
If the UK government was a key driver in the adoption and promotion of interoperability, then the private sector was not slow to recognise the opportunity to improve their business processes through the adoption of browser based technologies.
Standards such as e-GIF have value beyond e-government and help organisations to reduce cost and risk. Since the process is on-going, we at Contensis continually monitor progress and seek to ensure that our product is always at the leading edge, taking full account of these and other initiatives.
The need for joined-up ICT systems is universal. Interoperable systems work in a seamless and coherent way to provide your customers, partners and staff with better and more tailored services.
"We live in a knowledge economy and information is its vital fuel. Only by making information readily locatable, within a security structure that defines who can access it and when, can organisations really hope to reap the full benefits."
