The inaugural Contensis University User Group meeting has been held at Southampton Solent University.
The meeting is an important milestone in the success story of the Contensis CMS product.
Sector account manager Mark Owen said the meeting was an essential part of the on-going relationship between Contensis and its university clients and between the universities themselves.
The meeting was chaired by host Steve Hogg of Solent who opened with a friendly welcome and brief background introduction to the University.
Each of the University members spoke about their own web presence and the unique qualities that each University offers.
'Interactive debate'
Mark Owen said: “It was a good inter-active debate which saw discussions on specialties, course work, student numbers and even on location; who had the best views and grounds!”
Richard Chivers, Head of Development at Contensis, took the meeting onto the next stage with a presentation on the imminent release of Contensis version 5.0.
He discussed the pertinent changes within the new version which left everyone present itching to get their hands on it.
Richard finished his session with news of our new partnership with WebTrends for web analytics.
Chris Cowan, Contensis Managing Director, introduced the members to our new on-line Project Management tool, and rounded-off with the new university discussion forum which is now available on our own site. The forum will be extremely useful for members to discuss issues, new ideas and maybe the odd joke!
An afternoon question and answer session rounded off what was an extremely successful and informative day.
About the company
The Contensis Enterprise Content Management suite of products began life, as many products do, following an animated discussion between a group of software professionals back in the autumn of 1998.
They all agreed, after exhaustive evaluation, that most of the products then available fell far short of their own vision and an idea began to gel. By spring 1999 work was well advanced on the specification of a system which not only met their criteria, and that of respected industry analysts, but equally important also reflected the views of end user enterprises. Power, ease of use and cost effectiveness were the key words. The beginnings of the Contensis development team were spawned a little later and work started in earnest to turn the dream into reality.
Philosophy
Our approach is completely customer-centric. Customers are our universe and we see their problems as our problems.
From a software perspective this means that we strive to ensure that every aspect of Contensis is simple to learn and easy to use. We believe we've achieved that, certainly at everyday user level. Even newcomers to the system are normally editing and contributing within minutes.
It's all part of our 'How can we make it simpler' approach.
